Harmonia thanks JC Seneca for spreading the word about Tele-therapy
JC SENECA PROVIDES ACCESS TO VITUAL MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Irving/Derby, N.Y. (April 22, 2020)…During this Covid-19 pandemic, the JC Seneca Foundation, Native Pride, and Harmonia Collaborative Care have joined forces to provide access to virtual mental health therapy services to the people of the Seneca Nation and surrounding communities.
Rural adults who report fair or poor mental health are significantly less likely to receive any type of mental health treatment than their non-rural counterparts. Isolation, lack of transportation and treatment options contribute to continued substance abuse and mental health issues.
“As a person in recovery, I know the challenges of living in a rural community with mental health issues,” said JC Seneca, founder of the JC Seneca Foundation and owner of Native Pride in Irving.
The JC Seneca Foundation’s mission is to advance healthy living in body, mind and spirit for the people of the Seneca Nation and surrounding communities. JC credits his wife, Nicole, their family, and access to quality mental health counseling as keys to his years of recovery. JC believes his recovery can be a vehicle to positively impact others in the same way.
“We saw the opportunity to partner with Harmonia Collaborative Care and share their story of tele-therapy services to support those in need in southern Erie County, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties,” he added.
Harmonia Collaborative Care’s mission is to deliver best-practice Health Home, Senior and Mental Health services to foster individuals’ independence and improve their quality of life. Harmonia has clinics in Derby and Hamburg.
“In the advent of the COVID19 crisis, Harmonia was able to expand our tele-therapy counseling to serve the community. Counseling by phone or video is especially valuable to those in need in a rural setting,” explained Valerie Nowak, LMHC, MPA, CEO of Harmonia Collaborative Care. “We are excited about our partnership with JC Seneca and the ability to reach underserved populations.”
