Coffee Talk with Harmonia’s Sarah Cozzemera

Our first Coffee Talk is with Megan Brautlacht, Director of Mental Health Clinics for Harmonia in a very cozy + inviting corner of Megan’s office.

WHAT: May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Harmonia Collaborative Care is initiating a monthly interview-based conversation series about mental health in our community. Learn about the staff + service providers at Harmonia, resources that are available, and how local businesses support mental health awareness. Life. With balance. And Coffee.

Q: What department do you work in at Harmonia? Is your department currently hiring?

A: I am the director of Mental Health Clinics. We have a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, and we are always looking to add more members to our team. We offer outpatient mental health services for individuals, families, and couples ages 13 and up.

I am currently looking for someone to come on board as our Mental Health Program Manager, who would assist me with leading our clinical team. This position strikes a unique balance between clinical work and administrative duties.

Q: Why do you work in mental health care?

A: Mental health is just as important as physical health. We need to realize that it’s ok to let people know you’re struggling, to reach out, and to work towards a healthier life for yourself. The importance of working in mental health right now is addressing how difficult it is to survive for some people right now. We are consistently exposed to primary and secondary trauma experiences – whether it’s through the news and current events, or social media. People need to learn to take care of their mental wellness, and that is something new that we are bringing to everyday conversations.

Q: What do you most want people to know about mental health care providers?

A: They’re people just like you, except they’ve been trained to educate + support mental health in ways that goes beyond what friends and family can provide. We come from a place of non-judgement and the desire to help.
